The Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands Senior Center is southwest Baltimore County's hub for educational, recreational, social and personal growth opportunities for active seniors 60+ years young.
The Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands Senior Center is accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers, the senior center specialists of the National Council On Aging. National accreditation serves as a seal of approval for the breadth and quality of services offered.
A variety of educational classes forms the core of quality offerings at the center. A unique partnership with the Community College of Baltimore County, in addition to Baltimore County Department of Aging program technicians, provides classes such as Design & Production/Woodworking Arts, Basic Drawing, Better Health and Wellness/Aerobic Exercise, Ceramics, Quilting and Potpourri Crafts, along with History Wows! In addition to classes, the center offers a diverse variety of informational programs and speakers focused on consumer education, health and nutrition education, pertinent senior issues and much, much more.
Balancing out the opportunities for personal growth are a multitude of options for fun and leisure. The highlight of leisure opportunities is the center's travel program. The Travel Office plans exciting trips ranging from day excursions to multi-day adventures. The Travel Office considers affordability as a top priority, making these opportunities not only a great deal but also accessible to all. In addition to travel, the center offers up leisure in the form of cards, a pool room, shuffleboard and the ever-popular bingo.
The senior center also provides a variety of health screenings throughout the year, including monthly blood pressure screenings in partnership with St. Agnes Hospital.
