The Lake Cumberland Bluegrass Festival began as just an idea in September 2003 and became a reality in August of 2004 with the first festival being held at the Russell County Fairgrounds in Russell Springs. In 2006, the festival moved to the KOA Campground near Lake Cumberland to accommodate the camping bluegrass fans. Each year, the weekend festival gets a little bigger and the bluegrass music is consistently great! National touring acts such as Dailey and Vincent, The Bluegrass Cardinals (reunion), JD Crowe and the New South, The Boxcars, and Marty Raybon have played the festival as have many local and regional acts. It's always a great time in Russell Springs!!
