La Center Community Library

1402 East Lockwood Creek Road
La Center, WA 98629

360-619-1800

History:

Built circa 1905, this charming 2 story library once served as a hospital. It was moved a half mile to its current location in 2001, then completely renovated and transformed by the La Center community.

To quote from a plaque next to the front door: "Thanks to the visionary efforts of Margaret Colf Hepola, the structure was saved from demolition in 2001 and designated for use as a future public library. The structure was completely renovated after being moved in August 2001 to its current site on land purchased by the Colf Family Foundation. This library building stands as testimony to the Colf family's community commitment, determination and generosity and the support provided by the Friends of La Center Community Library."

The library is a bridge between old and new in La Center. Charming architecture and beautiful woodwork are combined with modern technology.
