Family owned orchard in Southern Door County. Located on Highway 42 one half mile north of Forestville. We grow Montmorency tart cherries, but no sweet cherries and many varieties of apples that are picked by us only.
Situated directly on State Highway 42 just north of Forestville, this orchard's convenient location is perfect for visitors traveling along the Lake Michigan shoreline from Milwaukee, Chicago, and beyond. Known as Kielar Akers for the past two decades, this Southern Door County orchard has been family owned and operated since 1927. The roadside fruit stand is open every summer for tart cherry season, including pick your own, and the nearby shop has apples, plums, and pears from Labor Day through the end of the autumn season. This orchard functions under IPM (Integrated Pest Management) principles, which include regular scouting, decreased use of pesticides, and milder pesticides, in an effort to reduce chemical impact on the farm and the local environment. As stewards of the land, we recognize the importance of responsible IPM methods. In addition to pre-picked and pick-your-own cherries, we also carried frozen pitted cherries, cherry juice, dried cherries, jams, pie filling, cherry pitters, and fresh picked sweet cherries.
