Key West Cemetery

We are the Key West Paranormal Society and the Key West Cemetery is a cause which is very near and dear to our hearts, so the purpose of the "Friends of Key West Cemetery" website is to help optimize the cemetery's potential as a cultural resource through education, preservation, promotion and restoration of the Key West Cemetery's unique heritage.

We are comprised totally of volunteers who want to raise awareness with the general public and throughout Key West as to the condition of many of the older gravestones and promote an interest in their restoration, as many of these gravesites belong to leading citizens who once played a large role in the history of this community and to the founding fathers of Key West. We would like to utilize commercial support from any of our local businesses who want to become involved with this project, to determine the best course of action in which to have these gravestones restored, and to promote fund raising events to cover the expense.

With the help of family genealogy, local libraries, the Sexton's office, and the internet we would like to locate the records of these burial sites, their obituaries, and their photographs and find a way to preserve these treasures for future generations to come.
