About Us:
Jones Orchard was founded by the late HL "Peaches" Jones in 1940. "Peach Orchard" Jones began his peach business by selling peaches door to door in the local Millington neighborhoods. He made quite a reputation for Jones peaches that continues today, seven decades later. The farm still grows the original peach varieties such as Elberta, Redskin, Georgia Belle, and Indian Peaches that are customer favorites as well as the market's newest varieties. Today there are more than 10,000 peach trees on 110 acres of our 600 acre farm.
Our peaches can't be shipped very far. They must be consumed shortly after picking due to their fragility. Our older varieties have higher sugar content and much better flavor than the shipping varieties found in supermarkets.
Lee and Juanita JonesThe current Jones Orchard peach expert is Lee Jones, son of HL Jones, who has been growing peaches on the farm since graduation from college in 1962, almost 5 decades ago. Lee started the farm market along Highway 51. This has now grown to a 2700 square foot facility with the market, kitchen, and café.
Lee's wife, Juanita, is the driving force behind the Country Kitchen where the Jones jellies, jams, preserves, relishes, and delicious pies and baked goods are available for purchase.
Henry Jones, the son of Lee and Juanita, is responsible for diversification of the offerings at Jones Orchard. Henry returned to the farm full-time in 2005 after graduating from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and working in Nashville and Memphis for a brief time.
Henry, Dayna and Jones childrenHenry handles our strawberry growing and the farmers markets for the farm. The Jones corn maze and haunts increase in complexity every year and are a great draw for people from miles around. He and his wife, Dayna, have 4 children, Cooper, now 11 years old, Ty and Jack, 9 year old twins, and 5-year old daughter, Olivia.
We continue to produce peaches with the same quality and high standards today as those from 1940. We strive for excellence and distinction. Our family farm now enjoys the distinction of providing home grown peaches to Memphis and the Mid-South for over seven decades.
