Jess Jones Vineyard

In 1997 Jess Jones decided to plant his "test" vineyard on the family farm just south of Dixon.  He planted six varieties of wine grapes - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Sangiovese - to see how each would grow and produce wine grapes in his fertile soil with the cool delta climate. He found that all six varieties did quite well here!

Although Jess sold most of his early grapes to other winemakers, his first wines (Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) were produced from his 2000 harvest.  They were a surprising success! During all of these years, Jess has been studying winemaking at U.C. Davis and attending various his own attending various conferences and conventions.  He began producing his own wine in 2004.   Jess Jones Vineyard currently has 8 different wines -  4 dry wines (Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir), 2 dessert wines, and 2 ports -  all available for your drinking pleasure!
