Charlotte Area's Only Planetarium!
The stars are always out at the James H. Lynn Planetarium - that's why our visitors leave with a twinkle in their eye. All you have to do is look up to see rotating planets, moons, galaxies, comets, nebulae, asteroids and black holes playing across the domed ceiling. Images from the Mariner to Pathfinder expeditions will transport you to another reality, and state of the art projections of the deep space objects captured by the Hubble Telescope are sure to dazzle.
The actual night sky hasn't been seen as pure black with sparkling pinpoints of light for more than 100 years. The Lynn Planetarium gets you a few light years closer.
Bring Your Group
Inside the planetarium, up to 150 participants can view the night sky and learn about the wonders of the universe. An exciting array of multimedia projectors and special effects offers an educational experience no classroom can duplicate. Most programs last around 45 minutes.
Please note that we can only guarantee seating for the registered number of students and adult chaperones - additional adults will be admitted only if seating is available. Please ask your students to refrain from using cameras or laser pointers during planetarium presentations.
