In early 2013, after years of homebrewing, we began the process of converting our barn into a small professional brewery. In April 2014 we brewed our first professional batches of beer and started selling it to places near our home base of Plymouth, Mass that already new us well as customers. Â
We already had several solid recipes from home brewing so it was just a matter of getting used to brewing on a scale about 10 times bigger than typical homebrew batches. Most of our beers have a Belgian influence because that is what we dig. But we also like to experiment a bit and ignore style guidelines. It is good to be a little bit weird. We must be doing something right because we can't keep up with the demand. Â
Our modest goal for the first year was to produce 100 barrels of beer.  But 100 barrels (3,100 gallons) at wholesale prices isn't enough beer to make a living. Even with no rent to pay it is barely enough to break even.  So, we are forced to make a choice something akin to "go big or go home". We have chosen to go big, but not very big. Hopefully just big enough to make a living and still keep it fun. Starting in the basement of our barn with no rent and literally low overhead was a great way to get started but was never meant to be forever.
So, we would like to announce that in August 2015 we will be moving to 127 Camelot Drive in Plymouth. We will have 5 times the brewing capacity and a tap room for on site sales. The tap room will seat about 25 people and we will be able to serve pints and samplers and fill growlers to go. Some of our experimental and barrel aged beers will only be available in the tap room. The barn will continue to be used for barrel aging projects. We will still brew with the seasons and each batch will still use as much local malt and hops as possible. We believe in making local beer with local ingredients. Help us fight the mono-culture and drink some local beer occasionally.
