Hounds On The Sound Dog Walk And Festival

About Us:
Formed in 1982, Pet Rescue is a grassroots, non-profit animal rescue organization. Our mission is to take in abandoned and neglected dogs and cats, provide medical care, and find them safe, loving homes. In the past 30+ years, we've helped thousands of needy animals. Pet Rescue is comprised of passionate volunteers from all walks of life. We are teachers and therapists; artists and lawyers; writers and waiters; moms, dads, teens and octogenarians.

We all share a love for animals. Most of our rescues live in our homes until they are adopted. During this period, we provide nutritious meals, exercise, training, and most of all, love. We give homeless pets a second chance at life and get them ready for their "forever" homes.

Everything we do is powered by love. Because with just a spark of interest and a little help, it's amazing what love can do! In October 2013, Pet Rescue acquired a home of our own. The facility is the site of the old Westchester Shore Humane Society (WSHS) located in Harrison, NY. Although much renovations are needed, the property gives us a central location from which to operate and much-needed space for adoption events, training, education, enrichment pro-grams, meetings and storage.

Humane Society of Westchester was founded over one hundred years ago to provide care for lost, abandoned, injured or mistreated animals. Over the years, this private 501c3 not-for-profit organization has become well known for offering animals in need a comfortable environment to live in, the medical care they require, and the love and attention they deserve.

We presently serve 19 communities in Westchester County and rescue over 500 dogs and 900 cats each year. Day or night, we are responsible for taking in any animal in distress in one of our communities. We make every effort to reunite the animal with its owner. When that is not possible, our staff puts a tremendous amount of energy into matching the right animal with the right and, we hope, forever adoptive home.
