Horseshoe Bend National Military Park

11288 Horseshoe Bend Road
Daviston, AL 36256

Horseshoe Bend National Military Park commemorates the place where over 800 Upper Creek warriors where killed by the army led by General Andrew Jackson. Today, the park, which contains part of the Tallapoosa River, is a popular place for daytime recreational activities including boating and shore fishing. A three-mile-long tour road and a 2.8-mile nature trail provide views of the ground where the battle was fought, and the visitor center contains more history on the battle for interested guests. The 2,040-acre national park is north along the river from Martin Lake and about 38 miles by car from Auburn.
