***** Toad Brewing Company is located in the southern Runnels County town of Rowena. The town began as a rail station in the late 1800's and was settled mostly by German and Czech immigrants. Today, Rowena is still a tight-knit community that seems more like a big family than a small town.

***** Toad brewery is located in a former service station directly across the street from a memorial to prohibition. As the story goes, when Runnels County voted themselves dry (before national prohibition), the citizens of Rowena buried a bottle of Whiskey and a bottle of Beer and erected a headstone marker which reads, "Here Lies Our Liberty."
