Mission:
The Hornell Public Library is a community-based, legally established, tax supported agency, whose primary purpose is to provide information, education, and recreation to people of all ages through a collection of book and materials organized for use.

The Hornell Public Library was established in 1868. The library is housed in an Andrew Carnegie funded building. The library was designed by Edward L. Tilton and erected in 1911.

The library was made accessible to all with the addition of an elevator in 1999.
