Located in southern Miami County, Homestead was built on land that was homesteaded in 1814 by members of the Knife Family. Thus, the name “Homestead Golf Course.” The land was used for agricultural purposes until Homestead Golf Course opened as a nine hole public golf course on June 1, 1965.
The course was designed and built by Van V. Knife with help from his wife Esther and sons Jim and David. It remained a nine hole course until May of 1973 when the remaining nine holes were added on the west side of Worley Road. Currently Homestead Golf Course is entering its 46th year and is still owned by the Knife family; David, Karen & Megan.
