Historic Spanish Point is operated by Gulf Coast Heritage Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation.

The mission is to connect people of today with 5,000 years of human history in southwest coastal Florida by collecting, preserving, and interpreting objects and traditions significant to our region's past.

Come visit 30 beautiful bay-front acres centrally located in Sarasota County, Florida.  GuptillHouse-ML-100dpi5inchLearn about the region’s prehistory in “A Window to the Past,” the only archaeological exhibition in the nation built inside of a shell mound. Your family also will connect to Florida’s inspiring pioneers at Sarasota’s first produce packing house, a charming chapel and pioneer cemetery, and the beautifully preserved Guptill House, built in 1901.

If plants are your passion, explore Mrs. Palmer’s Jungle Walk and Sunken Garden and the Butterfly Garden, one of the largest on the Gulf Coast.  At Guptill Boat Yard, enjoy maritime tales and traditions.

This “Old Florida” oasis of history is a special place worth preserving for our community and future generations!
