The GumTree Museum of Art, Inc.The Tupelo Artist Guild, Inc. was established as a non-profit corporation on 1982. Since 1985, the GumTree Museum of Art has maintained a high standard of visual art among members and the public, and serves as an educational institution for the visual arts.

The GumTree Museum of Art, a public visual arts gallery located in the original Peoples Bank and Trust Company in downtown Tupelo, opened in February 1985. The Beaux Arts style building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was begun in 1904 and completed in 1905.
