The Grimes Public Library's mission is to ensure that the public, regardless of age, sex, race or creed has the freedom to read and the right to freely choose from various sources of information and knowledge through a balanced collection of print and non-print resources. The library serves the educational, informational and recreational needs of the community. The Grimes Library promotes communication and the sharing of resources among all libraries.
This library joins with other libraries in the United States in supporting the Library Bill Of Rights and the Freedom To Read statement of the American Library Association.
The Grimes Public Library was founded on 13 June 1972. The library is a class D library, which means we serve a population of 5,000 to 10,000 people. The library's collection consists of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and computer games. All together, we have a collection of over 38,000 titles, and last year we had over 87,000 checkouts!
