About Our Farm:

Greig Farm is a third generation family farm in Red Hook, NY. The story of our farm began in 1942, when Marion and Robert Greig purchased the original 108 acres. The farm began as a fruit and dairy operation. We cared for about seventy holstein dairy cows and grew apples, strawberries, and grapes. The farm continued to grow over the years and today the farm spans over 300 acres in the beautiful Hudson Valley.

Norman Greig, Marion and Robert’s son, returned to the farm in 1975 to begin farming. The farm then sold most of the fruit through wholesale channels. Norman’s goal was to expand the small pick-your-own operation and reinvent the farm as a destination to share the experience of agriculture.

Over the following decade, the farm began growing blueberries, blackberries, asparagus, and pumpkins. At the same time, the economics of small dairy farms became increasingly challenging, leading Norman to sell the cows and close the dairy operation in 1998. The 1850s era dairy barn became a new project. Over the years, we’ve renovated parts of the building to welcome local artists and entrepreneurs to open their businesses on our farm.

Norman’s son, Robinson, returned in 2020 to help the farm navigate through the pandemic. Robinson plans to advance the farm’s practices to the leading edge of sustainable agriculture, while continuing our history of welcoming our local community to the farm.

We’ve always welcomed the public to our farm and invite you all to share the beautiful landscape that we’re so fortunate to work within everyday. We love hearing the stories of folks who visited our farm as kids and are now returning with their kids. We look forward to continuing to provide our community with fresh produce for decades to come.
