About Us:

The Greene County Museum is located in Snow Hill’s beautiful National Register Historic District and near scenic Contentnea Creek. The museum serves the Greene County community as a center of cultural activities. The annual schedule of exhibits feature both art and history. The museum welcomes a variety of guest artists and craft workers.

We are an all-volunteer organization. Partners of the museum include the NC Arts Council, Kinston Community Council for the Arts, Preservation NC, the GC NAACP, GC Friends of the Library and many other organizations to offer a variety of programs and speakers for the public. Programs and exhibits at the Greene County Museum are supported in part by funding from Greene County government, the Town of Snow Hill, Grassroots Arts Grant of the NC Arts Council and annual memberships.

The Greene County Museum opened its doors on August 2, 2002. It is a bi-product of the Greene County Arts and Historical Society which was "organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes...to foster, promote and increase the public knowledge and appreciation of the history of Greene County, North Carolina and the state of North Carolina, as well as related cultural aspects of the county such as art, crafts, music, religion, genealogy, agriculture and architecture."
