The Grand River Museum is a non-profit institution, incorporated within the State of South Dakota and as a publicly supported organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Grand River Museum's purpose is to emphasize the paleontological, geological, and cultural history of the Grand River region of South Dakota; to collect, preserve and display materials relating to the history of the region; and to educate and inform the general public about the region through outreach programs, public events, and exhibits
