The original building (known as East Branch Library) first opened in 1922 in a rented room in the Goodyear Club House. In 1939 it became the first branch library of the Akron Public Library to occupy a building designed, built, furnished and owned by the library system. The building cost $45,000.
Current library statistics indicate that Goodyear Branch has 7,234 registered borrowers, circulated 112,467 items in 2004, and has a collection of 57,529 items.
We are open 6 days a week to meet your needs for education, information and recreation.
Our friendly, skilled staff includes a branch manager who is also the adult services librarian, a children’s librarian who serves intermediate school age children and teens (grades 4-12), and a children's librarian who serves young children (babies through grade three) and their families. Our staff also includes public services assistants, and student assistants.
