About Hunting:  The park abuts the Higganum Meadows Wildlife Management Area and hunting is allowed on these two combined locations.  The area of the park south of the power lines is open to regulated hunting, including deer, waterfowl, turkey and small game. Season dates vary from September 1st through February 28th, however the vast majority of hunting occurs during the peak fall months of October through December.  Deer hunting with firearms is not permitted. Hunting activity may also occur during the late April/May spring turkey season, which limits hunting hours to 1/2 hour before sunrise to 12 noon.
