About Gainesville Neighborhood Library:

The fifth neighborhood library that was named for the voting magisterial district, Gainesville officially opened to the public on May 16, 1987. Located in James Long Park, this 2,073 square foot facility boasts a collection of 22,000 volumes including Books on CD, Books on Tape, Playaways, and magazines.

Gainesville Library is staffed with one full-time, three part-time staff members, and a large group of community volunteers and is one of the busiest neighborhood libraries.

One of two library facilities located in area parks, Gainesville has the distinction of providing electricity to a nearby ozone monitoring station that measures levels of carbon monoxide and ozone for the county. Several garden spots were donated and maintained by the Haymarket Garden Club.

Two Internet stations are available to the public as well as free notary services and public faxing. Story hours remain popular with young children and Summer Quest and Teen Summer Reading programs remain a welcome summer activity for all the children.
