The Museum of the Everglades in historic Everglades City, Florida, is devoted to displaying local history from early Native American times to the present. Permanent exhibits tell the story of adventurers stubborn enough to persevere in Southwest Florida’s “Last Frontier”. The Pauline Reeves Gallery offers monthly exhibits from local, and regional artists. The Museum of the Everglades is part of the Collier County Museums system.

The Friends of the Museum of the Everglades, Inc., is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation established in 1992. It was instrumental in the conversion of the old Laundry building into a Museum.

The mission of the Friends, as stated in the by-laws, is:

“ ... to assist in the development of the Museum of the Everglades. The purposes for which this Corporation is organized are exclusively charitable, scientific, literary and educational ...”

Our fundraising efforts contribute financially to the Museum for programs, events and acquisitions. The Friends also provide volunteers to help the staff by greeting visitors, organizing events, and operating a gift shop.
