The Friends of the Almaden Library began supporting the Almaden Branch Library over 25 years ago. Formed in 1979, they held their first book sale in 1980, and have been steadily increasing their funding of special programs and purchase of extra library materials since then. While the library was closed for reconstruction during 2003-2006, the Friends group worked together with the Friends of the Vineland Branch Library to get their new group started. When the new Almaden Library/Community Center opened on May 13, 2006, the Friends of the Almaden Library began functioning as a separate group again.
