The Friends of Rockhound (FOR) is a non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to assist the New Mexico Parks Department to enhance, preserve, and promote the use of Rockhound State Park. FOR helps in many ways with interpretive programs, educational programs and special events. The Park has a new Visitor Center with many displays and a Native Plant Demonstration Garden dedicated to the interpretation of the Chihuahuan Desert.
