About Us:

Frear Park is a 247-acre 18-hole public golf course and hockey arena, amongst other features. It began as a 9-hole course in 1931 and later was expanded to 18 holes in 1964. Currently the course provides over 46,000 rounds of golf annually.

The Rensselaer County Men's Golf Tournament is an annual tournament held around Labor Day each fall. It started in the 1940s and continues to draw many participants each year. More recently added was the Mayor's Cup which is held in late August.

Along with the public golf course, Frear Park also boasts a hockey rink which is used by Troy Albany Youth Hockey Association (TAYHA) and also offers public skating. The rink opened in 1974 and was the first enclosed ice rink in the area. In 1979, improvements were made by adding a lobby and extra locker rooms amongst other things. Players ranging from age 6-18 and of all skill levels are able to compete through TAYHA and Frear Park.
