Fontana Mummers Community Theatre

8443 Nuevo Avenue
Fontana, CA 92335

Purpose:

The Fontana mummers, inc. community theatre was formed to bring quality live theatre to the fontana area and to give area residents an opportunity to have a place to express their talents.

History:

The mummers was founded in 1973, and over the years, has occupied a former bar, a historical building and the city of fontana's cultural arts center.

In 1980, the mummers incorporated as a not for profit corporation in the state of california and received its non-profit status, both state and federal. During the past 31 years, the mummers have served over 100,000 audience members from not only the inland area, but also the high and low desert, orange county and los angeles.

The Future:

The mummers purchased the historic fontana theater. In 1998. But the mummers had to pay almost $6,000 a month in mortgage payments, insurance and utilities leaving little money to complete the restoration and repair of the interior. So now, the building has been sold and the mummers moved back to the theater they built in 1980 at nuevo and spring, across the street from the fontana water company.
