There is a concrete plank boat ramp here that provides access to the Sakonnet River, an arm of Narragansett Bay. The boat ramp is reported to be in somewhat poor condition. In the off season you can also launch hand carried boats from the town beach, which is reached by taking a right turn off Fogland Road a little before the boat ramp. The Sakonnet River is relatively open and exposed so pay careful attention to the weather and tides before you set out and while you are on the water.
On most days the southwest wind fills in strongly in this area in the morning and blows briskly throughout the afternoon, producing strong waves, so be prepared for this when planning your trip.
