A Short History

While stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, Glenn Eschtruth, MD, was appointed pastor and held the first worship service for thirty-eight people in February 1957. On March 10th the church received its official charter and grew to 75 members. As the congregation grew the church met in a bar in downtown Cocoa Beach and later moved to the "little white church" on S. Orlando Ave. In 1960 the congregation built a fellowship hall at 3300 N. Atlantic Ave. for worship services and Sunday school classes and a few years later added the present day sanctuary in 1965.

First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach or FUMCCB has been blessed with 17 pastors over the years and received their first female pastor in 2008 where she retired in 2011. In June of 2011 God appointed a second female pastor to lead the church forward.

In 2011 FUMCCB became a Non-profit business partners with Roosevelt Elementary School. Also in 2013 FUMCCB became partners with Cape View Elementary School.
