Charles Ault started the Players Guild in 1936 as a means to put food on the table in the middle of the depression. A love for the theatre and a creative mind brought a group of talented community actors and actress together to provide the public with live entertainment. This concept was later passed on to his son Charley Ault, Jr. who now runs the Players Guild. By age 8 Charley was in his first play, and directing by age 26. He fully took over the business by age 29 at which time he had been married for 10 years, had a 9 year old son and a 5 year old daughter. He also was owner of The Guild at 1028 So. Gaylord St. The Players Guild performed there for 14 yrs after which they traveled around the city, performing in such places as Lorretto Heights & Houston Fine Arts Center for 8 years. In 1990 they found their new home at the Festival Playhouse at 5665 Old Wadsworth Blvd, in Old Town Arvada. Donna and Charley are still together to this day and that is why the Players Guild is still a success. Doing something they love, and doing it together. Without both of their hard work the business wouldn't be going strong today.
