Back in 1910, the original 9 holes of Faribault Golf Club were first designed, constructed and opened for play. The facility has been a staple of the community ever since. Then, in 1956, Interlachen golf professional Willie Kidd designed the new nine-hole course at its present location. In 1966, Bob Carlson of Austin designed the back nine holes. Faribault Golf Club was instrumental in the founding and establishment of the Minnesota Golf Association along with the Winona Country Club, Town and Country, the Minikahda Club, Rochester Golf & Country Club, Bryn Mawr and Merion Park. Since 1970, Faribault has also hosted the annual Minnesota PGA Pro-Am Tournament. The club hosted the 1970 Minnesota State Open, as well as the local qualifying for the 1984 United States Golf Association Open and the 1991 MGA Mid-Amateur.
