Dar Freeland was born and educated in Los Angeles, California. In 1994, she seized an opportunity to relocate her company Cricket Studio, to Las Vegas; opening her graphics and illustration studio upstairs in The Arts Factory.

Freeland specializes in animation, design, illustration and writing and enjoys a number of artistic pursuits, including work in film production and publishing. 

Freeland's education focused on fine art photography, and she enjoys photo composition, creating large scale collage work. In addition, every couple of years, she creates a Mandala sand painting done in the Tibetan tradition - once created, it is deconstructed -or swept away.
