Endicott Library Project Complete!

It took more than two years but renovation of the Endicott Branch of Whitman County Library at 324 E Street was finally completed in 2013. Library hours are Tuesdays 1-5 p.m., Fridays 9-2 p.m. with preschool storytime each Friday at 10 a.m.

Thanks to funding from The United States Department of Agriculture, Inland Northwest Community Foundation, Avista, Thrifty Grandmothers of Colfax, Endicott Community Club and many local contributions, the $130,000 project is complete. Updates included the removal of harmful toxins, bringing the facility into ADA compliance and gave the library a much-needed facelift.

The project ran into a major roadblock last summer when a $30,000 parking pad was required to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Officials had initially been advised that the existing parking met accessibility codes. As a result of the unexpected modification, a number of items had to be cut from the library’s renovation plan and an additional $15,000 had to be secured.
