While in Big Springs Country, come by our Ellsinore Pioneer Museum in East Carter County. Located in Ellsinore, 1/2 mile off Highway 60 on Route V (#11 South Herren Ave - across from Van Dykes store). Buy sourdough bread, apple butter, sorghum and blackberries when available.
When scheduled, you can see genuine spinning, sorghum making, rug weaving, blacksmithing, soap-making, quilting, hominy-making, tatting, cider-pressing, old-time music, breadmaking and other pioneer tasks by people who cherish our pioneer heritage and want to preserve it.
