The Ellensburg Public Library's mission is to provide a diverse collection of materials and electronic resources; community space; and educational programming to encourage lifelong learning. The Library protects intellectual freedom and access to information and ideas. It also provides the community with a welcoming environment and skilled assistance.

The Ellensburg Public Library's Northwest history collection is unique collection of materials; including photographs, books, historical files and other collections about the past events and people of Ellensburg, Kittitas County and central Washington State.
