About Us:

Dupras' Evergreen Acres started as a 4-H project by Michael Dupras, and later expanded into a Choose and Cut Christmas tree farm. The very first trees were planted in 1966 on only 1/4 acre of land. Six years later, in 1972, Michael sold his first few Christmas trees.  In 1980, another 3/4 acre was cleared for planting.

Growing Christmas trees is a year-round operation. In late winter and early spring, holes are dug and new trees are planted by hand. The trees are watered in the summer, by both rain and sprinklers. From the end of June through July, we shear, or shape, the trees. Each tree is topped by hand shears, and the remainder is done with a rotary pruner. The field is also mowed to keep grass and weeds under control. As the marketing season gets closer, we select and individually price the trees that we plan on offering for sale.  When you come for a visit, after you select your tree, we tag it, remove the old needles, and, when you're ready to take it home, we cut it down and bale it for you.  If you have children, we offer the opportunity for them to "help" one of our cutters safely cut down their tree with a hand saw.

All of this would not be possible without all the the people who work here.  Maria and Charles Dupras are Michael's parents. Even though they are "retired", they are still very actively involved. Michael is the general manager, and is assisted by his two children, Charles (production manager) and Mandy.  Charles and Mandy work on the farm in the summer doing the shearing, mowing, and any maintenance that needs to be done.
