Franklin Houser is the founder of Dry Comal Creek Vineyards. He purchased the property as a country family get away in the 1970's. When he retired from his law practice in the 1990's, he decided to turn his wine hobby into a business. In 2017, Mr. Houser was ready to retire from the wine business, and sold the vineyard to the Romero Family from Ft. Worth.
Ralph Romero Sr. and his family quickly fell in love with the vineyard. Ralph was a first generation Mexican immigrant, and spent his summers on a family fruit farm learning English. His grandfather insisted he immigrate and live the "American dream." Purchasing the vineyard, and his beloved cows was just the whipped cream topping. Unfortunately, Ralph passed in January of 2021. The Romero Family continue to honor Ralph's legacy as a proud Texan. Dry Comal Creek is proud of our 100% Texas Grapes, and 100% Texas Wine.
