Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia was a long-time Corpus Christi physician, community advocate, and a well known leader in promoting Hispanic genealogy and history. She initiated efforts during the 1980s to make Corpus Christi a center for people researching their family tree and helped to found the local Spanish American Genealogical Association.  The Corpus Christi City Council officially approved a resolution to name the Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Public Library on April 22, 2008. It is located at 5930 Brockhampton on the Kaffie Middle School Campus.
