Mission :

It is the function of the De Soto Public Library to acquire, organize, preserve,and make available books and related materials to the De Soto community and surrounding areas.  Materials will be selected for all ages, from pre-school to maturity and service will not be denied because of religous, social, economic, or politcal status.  A nonresident card is available for those living outside of De Soto city limts.  Purchase of such a card entitles the holder to the same privileges and benefits that are available to city residents.  The library will seek to provide patron access to computers, the internet, wireless access, microfilm, and other technology as it is developed and the budget permits.  The library will work with other libraries to provide users with the widest range of service possible through cooperative arrangements, including reference services, inter-library loans, reciprocal card agreements, etc.  Putting it concisley the library will provide the best services it can with in the limits of its budget.
