Dauphin Island Park And Beach Board

109 Bienville Boulevard
Dauphin Island, AL 36528

The Dauphin Island Park & Beach Board was created in 1954 under the Dauphin Island Trust Indenture when the first bridge was completed to the mainland. The Dauphin Island Park & Beach Board was established so that the general public that did not own property on the Island could have access to the Island’s natural resources. DIPBB is and has been a non profit organization.

Originally, the Dauphin Island Park & Beach Board was established pursuant the Code of Alabama (1975) section 11-18-1. That section authorized Counties in the State of Alabama to acquire land by donation for public purposes, and to appoint a board of trustees (11-18-3) for the management, acquisition, and maintenance of those lands that are to be used for public purposes. In 1998, the Dauphin Island Park and Beach Board incorporated under the provisions of Code of Alabama (1975) Section 11-22-1, et seq. as a public non-profit corporation. The Board of Directors appointments are made by the Mobile County Commission. However, the Dauphin Island Park & Beach Board does not receive any operational funding from the State, County, or Local tax dollars to provide public access to the Island’s natural resources.

The Dauphin Island Park & Beach Board has a mission to provide family recreational opportunities to all citizens of Alabama while promoting tourism to the area in a holistic manner where public use is in harmony with the protection of the natural environment. We are committed to giving back to our environment so that we can all enjoy Dauphin Island for a long time to come.
