Services And Rates

All training is $140 a week plus feed.

Horse Starting: We believe in setting a horse up for success and start each and every horse when they are ready.

Part 1: This includes 1-2 weeks of solid ground work with a saddle and bridle, trailer loading, tying, and carrying a rider. Our groundwork and saddlework program eliminates the opportunity for a horse to buck with a rider and/or learn bad habits. 

Part 2: Includes your choice of 4 weeks of riding or more. We recommend at least 4 weeks of riding with us. Early rides are used to teach flexion (left and right turns), and one rein stops. We then transition into stopping and backing. All horses started at Crooked X will get exposed to cattle, and trails. 

Tune Up/Eventing: can include a horse that's gotten stiff, start your horse in barrels/poles/sorting/roping or your competition horse that needs a few tweaks to perfect their performance.

Part 1: One week of ground work to establish respect, and note any possible problems that might be occurring under saddle.

Part 2: Three weeks of riding and working towards the specific event goals.

Problem Horsess: can include but not limited to: trailer loading issues, needs ground manners, bolting or bucking problem horses.

Part 1: Two week trial to establish where the problem lies.

Part 2: Extended time if necessary.
