The Vineyard

The Crawford Beck Vineyard (CBV) comprises 15 acres of vines on 48 acres of farmland in the Eola-Amity Hills.  These hills represent a 5 miles by 15 miles upwelling of land driven by ancient geologic processes in the middle of the northern Willamette Valley.  The entire Willamette Valley is eminently suitable for the cultivation of cool weather winegrape varieties, such as pinot noir, because of the warm, rainless summer days and cool summer evenings.

The Eola-Amity Hills region of the Valley is distinctive because it lies right in line of sight of the Van Duzer Pass, a gap in the Coast Range.  While the mountains of the Coast Range protect the Willamette Valley from the worst of the Pacific coast weather, the Van Duzer Pass allows the wonderful cool summer breezes to blow through from the Pacific Ocean and moderate the weather on our hills.
