History:

Pine Meadows Farm was established in 1975 following a tornado in 1974 that destroyed a dairy farm near Hebron, Kentucky, leased by Dwight Colson and his brother Wayne. Dwight and his brother sold their Brown Swiss dairy herd and bought a row crop farm near Caledonia and moved here in January, 1975.

Today, the Colson brothers have separate farming operations. Dwight and his wife Jean, who grew up in the area, grow cotton, corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, pine trees, pumpkins, winter squash and ornamental vegetables.

In 2000, on a visit home to Kentucky, Dwight's brother Paul gave him some pumpkin seeds and told him to try a few acres in Mississippi. Three acres of pumpkins were planted that year. Since then, the country pumpkin patch has grown to 30 acres.
