History:
Country Gate Players, Inc. is a non-profit community theatre located at 114 Greenwich Street in Belvidere, New Jersey. Country Gate Players, Inc. is the oldest established and most prolific arts organization in Warren County. Country Gate began in 1972 as an outgrowth of the Central Warren Youth Association, but it soon became an independent entity in 1973, following its first musical, The King And I. Beginning with a company of nine actors under the direction of Bill and Carolyn Scurato, Country Gate has grown to a membership of nearly 100, with entire families involved in many productions. In its thirty three year history, hundreds of local actors have performed for thousands of people. Country Gate Playhouse draws audiences from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York State and is known for quality productions at reasonable ticket prices.

Housed in an art deco movie theater of 1930's vintage, the Players produce a mainstage season of five plays annually, which cover the gamut of drama, comedy, musicals, as well as children's productions. Summer workshops are conducted for young actors in the community and many of these youngsters have gone on to perform well into their adult lives. In addition, Country Gate is a producer of original Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre shows. These productions are available to community organizations for fund raising purposes.
