The size and diversity of the Rancho Arroyo Grande estate provides multiple vineyard sites, differentiated by topography, soils and microclimates. Our three estate vineyards, totaling more than 200 acres of vines, are planted on distinctive sites at elevations ranging from 400 to 1,000 feet. The climate is moderated by the nearby Pacific Ocean. The warm sunny days and cool nights are ideal for growing balanced fruit with intense flavor.

The soil here is exceptional. Evolved from ancient sea beds, the soils at Rancho Arroyo Grande abound with fossilized sea shells an attribute shared by some of the world's great vineyards. We believe that our soil with fossil shells is a good foundation for complex and interesting wines. That is why we have chosen an image of the fossil shells as the icon on our label, to represent the rarity, and richness of this special terroir.Wine making begins in the vineyard and we manage our vineyards to maximize the quality of fruit regardless of yield.
