The Concord Orchestra was founded in 1953 as a volunteer community orchestra. Its seventy members include professional musicians as well as serious amateurs. Richard Pittman has been the music director since 1969.

Each season, the Concord Orchestra presents three classical concerts, a holiday concert for all ages, and a spring pops concert. A young artist competition is held each year. The winner performs a concerto with the orchestra, while the two runners up give pre-concert recitals. The pops concert features a guest vocalist and light classics with table seating and refreshments.

In 1986, The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) conferred an award on The Concord Orchestra for "its adventuresome programming of contemporary music composed since 1945."
