Mission Statement:

The mission of the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra is to promote and perpetuate appreciation of classical and semi-classical music and to provide the opportunity to perform and to hear this music in an annual series of concerts.

Who We Are:

We, the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra, with our history of over twenty-five years performing classical as well as popular music in the Coeur d'Alene area, are one of the leading performing arts organizations of the region. With our broad base of corporate and individual sponsors, we are an integral part of the community, and an asset to the community. We draw our musicians and our audiences from Coeur d'Alene and the surrounding Inland Northwest area, including northern Idaho, eastern Washington, and western Montana.

Our Values:

We believe that the presence of a symphony orchestra in a community is a vital necessity, a defining spirit of the cultural life of a community. As such, a symphony orchestra is a marker of the development, both cultural and educational, of a community. A symphony orchestra is a source of pride and serves to attract newcomers who are accustomed to having access to the higher culture, who understand the importance of arts requiring high levels of skill and training.

- In addition to performing the core classical orchestral repertoire, in Coeur d'Alene, using musicians from Coeur d'Alene and the surrounding areas (including the five northern counties, eastern Washington, and western Montana), we also perform new music by living composers. We actively partner with other local groups to engage in opera, dance, and choral performances.

- An important part of our overall mission is to encourage young musicians.

- With an Annual Young Artists Competition that is growing in scope and numbers.

- With an annual Family Concert with programming that appeals to young people and is either free of admission or discounted to youths 18 and under. With our scholarship program that awards scholarships to deserving college-level music students throughout our service area.

- We also reach out to the senior citizen population of the Coeur d'Alene area.

- Through providing concerts in venues such as senior centers and retirement homes.

- Through offering tickets at a discount to seniors.

- We actively campaign through marketing and publicity to increase awareness of the orchestra and the esteem in which it is held.

- We grow the orchestra in terms of increasing audiences, increasing annual budget and revenues, increasing the size and quality of the orchestra in all sections, and increasing capital in terms of the endowment fund and equipment owned by the orchestra.

The Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit organization supported by dedicated volunteers.
