This beautifully manicured golf course features two distinctive nines. The front nine has an open links feel with wide fairways and large greens that will accept bump-and-run approach shots. The back nine requires more accuracy as it meanders through a large conservation area. Water comes into play on many holes and most fairways are lined with tall pines and ancient oaks. Six sets of tees ensure that golfers of every skill level will enjoy their round.
After pulling into the parking lot at Club Renaissance and being welcomed by ClubLink's friendly staff, a tour of the impressive clubhouse says you've arrived at a special place. There are a lot of outstanding aspects to Chip Powell's 18-hole layout of Club Renaissance.
Since opening in 2002, the par-72 design, which stretches from 4,651 to 6,701 yards, has established itself as "the" place to play in Sun City Center. Despite having significant water on nearly every hole, playability is perhaps its biggest virtue. Members and visitors can choose from six sets of tee decks to make the game truly enjoyable without taking any of the challenge out of it. ClubLink has dramatically improved the look and toughened up the course by revamping all the fairway and greenside bunkers with new white sand that really stands out, especially when you're standing on the tee.
The front nine has an open links feel with welcoming fairways and greens that accept bump-and-run approach shots. The back nine requires more accuracy as it meanders through a large conservation area and most fairways are lined with tall pines and mature oaks. Powell, a Florida-based golf course architect, creates drama on a relatively flat, yet rolling property, with strategic tee shots over and around ponds, especially on Nos. 3, 8, 10 and 12, which is a fun island-like par-3 with little room for error. It also features a testing finish over four solid closing holes.
