Cleveland Kurentovanje

Cleveland, OH 44103

Cleveland Kurentovanje (koo-rahn-toh-VAHN-yah) is a multi-day "Slovenian Mardi Gras" festival, celebrating the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Founded in 2013 and volunteer-organized, Cleveland Kurentovanje is filled with cultural and festive events, and culminates in a day-long Parade & Festival celebration on Saturday complete with costumes, a parade, ethnic food and drink, musical and cultural performances, and Kurents — mythical creatures who are believed to chase away winter and usher in spring.

The mission of Cleveland Kurentovanje is…

-Culture: To promote and celebrate Slovenian culture
-Merry-Making: To create a fun and lively experience for all festival-goers
-Growth: To use the energy from our event to contribute to the momentum in the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood, which historically, was home for generations of Slovenian immigrants.
